Synopsis

“Shadows of the Horn” explores the intergenerational impact of war and illustrates how Somali people are a powerful example of the impact of individual action and the ongoing fight for justice and human rights, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. In 1991, Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in response to the brutal genocide against the Isaaq clan. Today, the country Somaliland remains internationally unrecognized and, on the travel advisory lists of most countries and has been plagued by conflict since the 1960s. Despite these challenges, the resilience and hope of the Somaliland people have been prevalent through their attempts to find independence and separate from Somalia.
