Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) Welcomes Sahndra Fon Dufe Okeowo as Outreach and Strategic Engagement Director
San Jose, CA – The Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) proudly announces the appointment of Sahndra Fon Dufe Okeowo as its new Outreach and Strategic Engagement Director, effective May 1, 2024. With a distinguished background in film, law, journalism, and storytelling, Sahndra brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to further elevate SVAFF’s mission of presenting authentic African narratives to global audiences.
Sahndra Fon Dufe Okeowo is a best-selling author, media specialist, and the founder of African Pictures International, a restorative storytelling startup that has authored over 50 feature articles in the last year alone. She is currently curating content for film and television in collaboration with her partners. Sahndra’s training at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) has honed her expertise in media strategy, while her background in law and journalism adds a nuanced perspective to her work.

Sahndra’s professional journey has included impactful roles at Del-York International, where she previously served as Global Accounts Director, catering to Fortune 500 companies and government clients. At Colos LA in Melrose, she oversaw marketing initiatives and played a pivotal role in strategic communication efforts. Additionally, she has worked with talent development at Howard Talent West, Jing & Partners, and Amazon, further enhancing her expertise in strategic storytelling, communication, and media relations.
Her multifaceted background has equipped her with the skills to craft compelling narratives and drive positive change. In addition to her professional achievements, Sahndra is deeply passionate about mentoring emerging writers and promoting restorative storytelling through African Pictures International. Her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices makes her a valuable asset to SVAFF’s leadership team.
