Community Voices from Lake Turkana ("Come and Count Our Bones")
6 minutes / 2016
Documentary Short
Director: Narissa Allibhai
Country: Kenya
Lake Turkana, in Kenya, is the world's largest desert lake and a lifeline for 300,000 people. The lake and dependent communities are in danger due to a series of dams and large commercial plantations being developed on Ethiopia's Omo River, which feeds Lake Turkana with 90% of its water. This short film amplifies the voices of the marginalized peoples around the lake, as they express their dependence on it, their fears, and their anger.
